Shahr-e kord is located about 70 km southwest of Isfahan in the north of the Zagros mountain range and 2166m above the sea level.

Shahr-e kord is the highest capital city among  Iran which is known as the Roof of Iran. Shahr-e kord enjoys a cold semi-arid climate with moderate summer, which beside many national and historical attractions, converted it into one of the tourism cities. Shahr-e kord consists of 3 districts named “Markazi“, “Loran”, “arokhshahr“, 9 cities and 6 rural districts.

On the basis of grasslands, springs and special climate of this area, Shahr-e kord economy has been established on agriculture, animal husbandry, gardening, oil trading, wool and different industries such as cement, steel, textile, dairy products and also some handicrafts like Kola Mali, Namad Mali, local clothes, carpet and embroidery. Farsi, Turkish and Luri (Bakhtiari) dialects are common in Shahr-e kord, however, most of people speak in Farsi there.
