Baneh is a city located in the northwest of Kurdistan Province, adjacent to the Iraq border, and it is 262 kilometers away from the city of Sanandaj. The word "Baneh" has its roots in the Kurdish word "Baneh-ba", meaning tall and elevated. Baneh is one of the beautiful cities of the province, which has been endowed with a special beauty by Mount Arbaba and the surrounding forests. Today, the presence of new shopping centers and malls offering foreign goods due to its proximity to the border has turned this city into one of the busiest cities. Most travelers visit this city with the motivation of shopping for goods and seeing the mountainous landscapes around it. Considering the warm hospitality of the people of Kurdistan, the people of Baneh have this good quality more than anywhere else.

The most important tourist attractions in Baneh are:

  1. Dokanan and Pir Morad Park in the foothills of Mount Arbaba
  2. Urban shopping centers
  3.  Baneh Dam Lake: After passing through the Gordan Tunnel, the beautiful scenery of the lake becomes visible. As a considerable time has passed since the dam was put into operation, no tourist and recreational facilities have been created around it yet, but in the future, with the provision of amenities, it can be one of the important tourist attractions.
  4. Shuyi Cave: This cave is located 12 kilometers away from Baneh, near a village of the same name. No facilities for visiting the cave have been provided yet, and visitors must use equipment and tools.
  5. Soren Recreational Area: This recreational area is located 10 kilometers southeast of Baneh and its forest cover and natural landscape are highly regarded during spring and even summer.
