Semnan Grand Bazar is the remanent of Qajar period including sections like caravanserai, bathhouse, mosque, Tekyeh and Timcheh (shopping center). The eye-catching pointed arches in this bazar make not only the building more durable, but also, they provide the light of the building through large glasses on top of each arch. The architecture of the building is based on a style in which the summers are cool and the winters relatively warm. The northern façade of the complex is decorated in tile and it has some stone bases. An inscription made of the cobalt-blue tiles is visible on top of the facade on which some verses of Quran have been scripted in Thuluth. The southern bazar begins from Imam Khomeini Street, ending in the large Tekyeh of Pahneh and the Esfanjan district.

The northern façade of Hazrat bazar is quite similar to the northern façade of the southern bazar. The hall of the grand bazar and the current Hazrat bazar had been originally connected together constituting the main hall of the grand bazar. While, during the Pahlavi I’s reign and as a part of their urban developments, the grand bazar was divided into two parts through Imam Khomeini Street. Now, it is called the northern and the southern, or Hazrat, bazar. Semnan grand bazar begins in Shohada street and ends in Imam Khomeini Street.
