Hendorabi Island is one of Kish islands in the city of Bandar-e Lengeh. It is placed eight kilometers away from the southern coasts of Iran, encompassing an area of nearly 22.8 square kilometers.

Hendorabi Island includes a mosque, ruined remains of a village, Portuguese castle and Muslim castle close to the village, next to the cemetery and pond as well as the traces of old structures in the most eastern part, on a hill overlooking its abandoned guest house.

There is no other remarkable facility in the island and that is why the residents use the economic, administrative and service centers in the central part of the city, Bandar-e Chark, Bandar-e Chirouyeh, Bandar-e Maqam, Alvan Island and Kish. This island is located between 26 degrees 39 minutes to 26 degrees 42 minutes north and 53 degrees 3 minutes to 53 degrees 40 minutes east of Greenwich. In terms of political divisions, it is considered belonged to Alvan County, in Kish part, Bandar-e Lengeh city. Placed right in front of Shibkuh Bank and between Kish and Alvan islands, Hendorabi is nearly 325 kilometers waterway away from Bandar Abbas, 133 kilometers from Bandar-e Lengeh, 28 kilometers from Kish, 24 kilometers from Alvan, 86 kilometers from Farur, 120 kilometers from Siri and eight kilometers from Chirouyeh.

The island is in all seasons exposed to the direct sunlight and also, its small size has led to the homogeneous distribution of the heat. Therefore, there is no climate difference in various parts of the island.  Another cause of heat here is the small height of the surface of the island. Climatic observations show that Hendorabi Island is a warm and humid land. Water supply resources are limited provided by two wells and a pond. Five drinking water wells and two other ponds are also available in the island. Given the watering of two wells one of which with nearly 24 meters of depth, it can be stated that aquifers still exist here.

The condition of plant species is not satisfactory and the main species grown here is permanent and seasonal tropical flore among which the Acacia albida Delile is dominant and the general appearance of its growth is considered as semi-tropical forests. The domestic species of the island are of halonite or salt-loving type which are compatible with salinity.

Locals are mostly the fishermen and the agriculture is limited because of the lack of water. There are some arable lands in the south and east of Hendorabi village and also in the south of the island. Dairy husbandry is also limited in traditional style. Underwater diving is more or less popular here so that its pearl is higher in quality than ones found in Kish, Lengeh, Qeshm and other islands of the Persian Gulf.

Due to the Island’s location, maritime, air and earth transports are all possible. Since the closest coastal line to Hedorabi island is accessible through land road from Bandar-e Chirouyeh in a distance of eight kilometers, one need to take a walk to this bandar and then reach the island through waterway.
