 Malekan city is located 150 kilometers away from Tabriz, in the southeast of Urmia Lake, on the border of East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan provinces.  The city is restricted to Maragheh from the north and northeast, to Bonab from the north, to Miandoab in West Azerbaijan province from the south and southeast, to Urmia Lake, the western areas of the Lake and the salt pans around it, from the west and northwest. Having a large number of vineyards, this city is known as one of the poles of grape production in Iran.
