History Museum of Amol is placed in Imam Reza Street, on the eastern side of Haraz River, next to the bridge of Darvazeh Cheshmeh and Suspended Bridge. The building was established in 1936 as the office of finance (Edareh Malieh) of Amol city and it continued to live under the same name (Darāii) until 2008. The building transferred to the Office of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Mazandaran. It was publicly opened in 2010 as the History Museum of Amol. 

The building was registered in the list of Iran National Heritages in 1979. (No. 1525) The History Museum of Amol works in two floors where the ground floor is dedicated to the ethnography and the upper floor to the archaeology.
