The Kermanshah Bazaar is a commercial center located in the city of Kermanshah and was once considered one of the longest covered bazaars in the Middle East. The construction of the Kermanshah Bazaar dates back to 1806 (during the reign of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar) and is one of the important historical and active commercial centers. This traditional shopping center has a longitudinal structure with various public spaces around it in different trades, making it easy for customers to visit each of these spaces according to their needs. Related trades are also located adjacent to each other, giving the bazaar a cohesive and coordinated structure. The spaces within this bazaar include market alleys, alcoves, chambers (shops), four-souqs with elegant and beautiful dome architecture, caravanserais, squares, mosques, Tekyeh, and coffee houses. The Kermanshah Bazaar has 18 alleys, including the Goldsmith Bazaar, the Dark Bazaar (spice shops), the Jewish Bazaar (Islamic Bazaar), the Blacksmiths, the Copperworkers, the wholesaler, the clothiers, the door of army’s stable, the Chal-e-Hasan Khan, and the Cannon Foundry. The Kermanshah Bazaar has four-souqs and entrances decorated with brickwork and tilework, which indicate the beautiful aesthetic sensibilities of architects of the past and the rich architectural culture of this region.
