Agh Gol Wetland, also known as Kurdkhord Wetland, is located near the village of Kurdkhord in the southern part of Nahavand plain. This wetland is situated within the catchment area of Qareh Chay River and has an average length of five kilometers, width of 3.5 kilometers, and average depth of 0.5 meters. The deepest point of the wetland reaches 80 centimeters during the wet seasons. According to geological reports of the region, this wetland, which has led to the establishment of surrounding villages, dates back over 40,000 years. The pleasant vegetation cover and its proximity to the mountains create a beautiful landscape, especially in late winter and early spring. This is the time when migratory birds from distant and cold regions such as Russia, the Caucasus, and Scandinavian countries migrate to this wetland due to the availability of suitable food resources. The most common bird species found in this wetland include various types of ducks, geese, flamingos, herons, plovers, stilts, and more. The age of this wetland is estimated to be over 40,000 years.
