Sistan and Baluchestan Province is one of the largest provinces of Iran and one of the most deprived areas of our country. A province with high tourist attractions and remarkable potential for growth in the domain of tourism industry. Se Kohe Castle (Three Mountains Castle) near Zabul is one of the historical monuments of this province that has a fascinating and remarkable history.

The culmination of political and military complications in the area occurred during the reign of Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar. At that time Se Kohe Castle witnessed important happenings with the efforts of the British government to segregate some parts of Iran. Sardar Alikhan Sarbandi accepted the central government of Iran for the first time and raised the flag of our country in 1231 AH over the fortress of the time Se Kohe Castle in order that this area remains in the borders of our country. It should be mentioned that the ancient castle of the Se Kohe Castle dates back to the Afshariyyah period and hosted various rulers.

The formation of the Se Kohe Castle is also significant. Se Kohe is originally the name of land called the Se Kohe Village. In the past, this village has been underwater. After the retreat of the water in Zabul, three bumps came out of the water. In other words, the three mountains were originally just three islands out of the water, and eventually, with the retreat of water and the redirection of the Hirmand River, the whole area came out of the water.

The fortress consists of three parts: the southern citadel, the central citadel (central square) and the northern citadel. The northern citadel was the resting place of the ruler and his companions and it was smaller than the southern citadel. The southern citadel was a special place for the ruler that can be considered a small palace. The central citadel was also a resting place for servants and soldiers and it consisted of numerous rooms. The central citadel was located between the northern and southern citadels.

The architecture of the castle is the type of Sistan architecture and can be considered a symbol of Sistan architecture. Se Kohe Castle is one of the last monuments that was built regarding this style of architecture. The castle is located thirty kilometers from Zabul on the route Zabul-Zahedan and it was registered in the Iranian National Heritage List in 1381 SH.
