Sassanid Archaeological Landscape of Fars Region includes the most valuable historical monuments in terms of, architectural and urban is monuments development, palaces, forts and reliefs related to Sassanid empire (224 to 658 AD) and it is all located in the historical regions of Firouz Abad, Bishapur and Sarvestan.

Archaeological Landscape of Fars Region includes:

 

Bishapur Ancient City: is one of the oldest ancient cities of Iran, northwest of Kazerun which has valuable features with specific design and engineering related to Sassanid era. This city was a residential setting up to the seventh century AH then subsequently before being destroyed.

 

Shapur Cave: is a cave with an entrance about 30 meters at the end of Tang-e -Polo and 4 km distance from Bishapur and Kazeroun. There is a gigantic standing statue of Shapur's which isof about 7 meters height at the entrance of the cave (the only remained of the ancient monument sculpture).

 

Sarvestan Sassanid palace: is located 9 km south of Tazang area in Sarvestan. This magnificent building was built at the time of the Sasanian massacre of gypsum and stone at the time of Bahram-e Gur, which is more complicated and more advanced detailed than the other monuments of this historical period.

 

Sarvestan Sassanid palace: is located 9 km south of Tazang area, Sarvestan county. This magnificent building was built at the time of Sassanians' Bahram Gor by use of stucco and stone, which is enjoyed more complex and more detailed architecture in comparison to the other monuments of this historical period.

The Ancient City of Ardeshir Khurrah: The ancient city of Gor Gur established (Ardashir Kurrah or old Firouzabad) in the city of Firoozabad commissioned by order of Ardashir Babakan in the early third century AD.  The city is one of the first round cities with circle pattern in Iran and one of the first circular cities in the world, in which the state-owned buildings and the residence of courtiers' residence were located there.

 

Ardeshir Babakan Palace: one of the 3rd-century palaces is located in Firouzabad, which has been constructed during the last Parthian king empire, which was built by use of rock and mortar with embracing the glamorous decorations in the halls as well as four huge domed shaped buildings commissioned by the order of Ardeshir Babakan (the founder of the Sassanid dynasty) that is also called “fire temple” due to vicinity of this palace to a water fountain called named “Ghomp fire temple.

Qal’eh Dokhtar: is located   in 6 km from Firouzabad road to Shiraz on a hillside mountain slope nearoverlooking the road, which is imagined assumed to have been built by Ardeshir Sassanid in the late Parthian era. This monument, is now the remains of a large three-story, stony and sarooj castle, on three floors, with screwed up steps, domed rooms, a hall and a wide Sahn court(a courtyard in Islamic architecture).

The Victory Relief of Ardashir: The largest remained of relief in Iran, with the length of 18 meters and an approximate height of 4 meters, datinges back to the Sassanid era, is located in the city of Firouzabad, around along the Firouzabad River and above the rock, that shows the triumphantly battle scene of Ardeshir Babakan's triumph over against the fifth Ardavan, of the last Parthian Shah, in a battle in 224 AD.
