Varzaneh Desert

Isfahan province has a lot of tourism attractions including Kavir-e Mesr and Varzaneh Desert. Varzaneh Desert placed in the center of Iran at the border of three historical and touristic large provinces of Iran, that are Shiraz, Isfahan and Yazd which are the closest desert to Isfahan and Shiraz. The proper access road and its juxtaposition to the urban installations are among its pluses. In addition, the natural tourism attractions like Gav Khouni International Wetland, Salt Lake, Zayaneh Rud River placed in a short distance not only reinforce the value of the region, but also it has realized the tourism potentials of the region in which wearing white Chador, local dialect and a variety of historical monuments have led to the persistence and maintenance of the tourism flow. Encompassing an area of nearly 17000 hectares, Varzaneh Desert is one of the broadest and highest sand hills in all around the country. 

Varzaneh Desert or Kavir-e Khara is located 101 kilometers away from Isfahan city and 153 kilometers from Yazd city. Varzaneh Desert is one of the most beautiful deserts of Iran for having fun and enjoying the glory and grandeur of night silence in the heart of desert. 

The best time for travel to this place is the late summer, the early autumn and spring. The flowing sand hills are not usually moving a lot however, if you stay several nights in the desert, you will observe the movement of the hills! Please notice that the temperature reaches below zero at nights in all seasons, except for the late spring and during summer; therefore, you need appropriate winter equipment for this trip. Varzaneh Kavir in Isfahan is 45 kilometers long. 

Due to its short distance to Gav Khouni International Wetland, Varzaneh Desert shows a various flora. It includes almost 17000 hectares of sand areas in Isfahan. One of the most popular entertainments here is walking on the hot sands. 

The tourism region of Vaheh placed in the city of Varzaneh is one of the best places for camel riding races. It can recall the experience of the local lifestyle in the past. 

Four Wheel Motorcycle Riding (ATV) 

One of the other exciting entertainments here is Four Wheel Motorcycle Riding which moves on sand hills quickly. However, you are not able to ride it by yourself as a nonprofessional person and you will need skillful drivers. 

Off-Road riding is another desert entertainment. Due to the existence of the flowing sands, they are the only vehicles capable of moving in this place. 

Zip Line 

There are two zip lines in the desert, one in Khara desert with nearly 30 meters length and the other is Vaheh with 400 meters length. 

Paraglider 

Paraglider is one of the exciting sports popular in the windy and usually high areas. Desert areas are therefore, suitable places for performing paraglider. 

Sky Observation and Night Photography 

It might be said that one of the main goals behind traveling to the desert is this one. The night sky is extremely spectacular and fascinating. Therefore, a broad range of different interested groups in the night photography and astrology, from amateur to professional, are attracted to such a place. 

Camping and Night Gatherings 

One of the other exciting entertainments in the desert is putting up the tent and night stay. Many people who are inclined to pitch the tent in desert, travel with camping equipment. Besides, building fire and night gathering are also interesting. 

Buggy Riding 

Buggy is a kind of motor vehicle with large wheels and wide tires which has been designed for using in forest, on sand hills, beaches and deserts. It shows high maneuverability and speed.
