Tochal is a popular destination for both professional climbers and those just interested in climbing for entertainment and health for the weekends. Tochal Peak is placed in northern Tehran in the heart of Albort Mountain Range with 3962 meters of height.
Tochal is stuck to Tehran form one side while it reaches to Ahar village in Shemiranat and Shahrestanak village in Alborz province from the north.
Tochal is one of the loveliest peaks and mountain climbing routes in Tehran. There are several shelters along this route named Darabad, Kolakchal, Shervin, Shirpala, Palangchal and the fifth station. In addition, Amiri, Ardalan and Espid Kamar are other camping fields along this way.
Tochal tele cabin is one of the longest tele cabins in Iran and Middle East and Tochal ski resort is known as the fifth highest resort in all around the world. The easy access from the capital plays a main role in the popularity of this place.
You need to get to Velenjak in order to reach Tochal tele cabin. Find Yaman Street in Chamran highway, around the Iran International Exhibitions Company and go on northwards to reach the parking of Tochal complex.
There are also taxis next to the Velenjak gas station ready to take you to Bam-e Tehran. The route of tele cabin starts from Velenjak and your adventure from the seventh station close to the peak.
There are appropriate facilities in Tochal ski resort among which we can mention Tochal Hotel on the height of 4000 meters with a mountainous landscape, chairlift and ski lift which have been installed for athletes’ comfort.
Climbers choose different ways to ascend the summit. It might seem surprising, but Tochal is one of the most dangerous mountains in Iran which has caused many loses over years. Therefore, it is necessary to check the weather conditions before climbing. Tele cabin is closed much sooner in clod days of winter and the beginners may encounter difficulties while going down. So, you need to check the working hours in advance.
Even if you are not a professional athlete, you can have a lot of fun here. There are a lot of entertainment facilities on the hillsides of this mountain. Some prefer to walk in the health route starting from the parking. In addition to the pleasant landscape of Bam-e Tehran and its various restaurants and café shops, shooting club, paintball and sledding resort can be your next choices.
Billiards and hand football are other entertainments of the resort but the excitement culminates when you experience the zipline.
On the other hand, the possibility of bungee jumping and free jumping has also been provided in the complex to satisfy any kind of taste and interest.
