Cheshmeh Soraya is located in the northernmost point of Iran, at the zero point of the Iran-Turkey border, in West Azerbaijan province and under the jurisdiction of Maku county. Cheshmeh Soraya is a large and remarkable spring with very clear water, even suitable for boating. From this area, the Ararat Mountains are fully visible, adding a special beauty to the mountain and the spring. Cheshmeh Soraya is located in an area called Boralan, which is one of the most beautiful and rare areas. Due to the geopolitical significance of this region, it has unique characteristics compared to other springs.

This spring is located at the final border point of the Islamic Republic of Iran, bordering Turkey, the Republic of Nakhchivan, and Armenia, covering an area of 11 hectares. The abundant water of Cheshmeh Soraya is fed by the branches of the Aras River. The numerous wetlands around this spring serve as a habitat for birds in different seasons. The vicinity of snow-covered mountains in the Ararat region of Turkey, the presence of nomads and multiple villages with different cultures and customs, and finally, the proximity to three countries have made it one of the tourism and nature destinations in Iran. With its extraordinary expanse, this spring hosts various species of ducks and wild geese, including mallards, swans, teal, small wigeons, large wigeons, and the most important of them, which have a significant presence and breeding range in this spring, are red-crested pochards, ferruginous ducks, and white-headed ducks.
