Mort Lake is located on the eastern outskirts of Gilan-e-Gharb city, near the village of Sarab, and is considered one of the tourist attractions of Gilan-e-Gharb. This area is located on the eastern outskirts of the city alongside Mort Lake. Three historical hills have been discovered in this area, surrounded by Mort (Myrtle) bushes, which are considered sacred plants of the Zoroastrians. The lord's palace, the historical hill, and the ancient fire temple are among the important historical sites in this area. Among them, the Mort Lake Hill is listed as a national monument of Iran.

This area is known as one of the recreational areas of Kermanshah province due to the presence of springs and medicinal shrubs. In fact, the name of this area is taken from the flowing lake in this region and the Myrtle (Mort or Mord in Farsi) bushes that surround it.

Three historical sites have been identified during archaeological surveys in this area, and it seems that one of the reasons for the formation of this area is the presence of Mort bushes and the lake. The northern part of this area has recently been explored, and as a result, part of a governmental building (the Arbabi Castle) dating back to the Parthian period has been identified.
