One of the historical houses remained in Shahzadegan neighborhood is Masoudi House. The construction date of this monument is visible on an inscription installed next to the entrance door of alcove in the ground floor. It reads 1290 AH indicating a history of over 130 years. Encompassing an area of 1332 square meters, Masoudi Historical House has been built in two floors. There are a main room with several side rooms on two sides in each floor at the end of which a store and a closet have been added.

The most important part of this historical monument is alcove or Shah Neshin located in the ground floor. The whole ceiling and walls of the room are covered with stucco, mirror worked and oil painted floral and figural motives.

In addition, figures of Iranian kings from ancient Iran to Qajar (driven from Ferdowsi’s Shahnama) have been depicted on the wall using gravure method. They are delicately placed on the top corner of the walls between stucco motives just like some small frames. One of them shows a Qajar prince who has a piece of paper in his hand on which you can see the title: Name-ye Khosrowan. And above the figure the statement of its author, Jalal al-Din Mirza Qajar, has been written in Nastaliq.

Some other facts about this house are: all ceilings except for the alcove’s have been covered by Lambeh Koobi (a wooden coverage for ceiling in order to protect the place against the insects and also for better decoration). Sash windows of the house have been recently changed by the owners replaced by typical windows. Other decorations of the place are the brickworks on the façade of the alcove. Walls of the yard have been decorated with several arcades. The building is the manifestation of a period when Iranian culture and architecture was totally overwhelmed by those who had traveled to the west and this inspiration remained in its shallowest layer that is architectural decorations.
