Arg-e Naderi Ancient Hill belonging to the fifth millennium BC is located inside the city of Shirvan. This monument was registered as one of the national monuments of Iran with registration number 703 on April 12, 1967. As the largest earthen hill in Iran, the hill has a height of 25 meters and a diameter of 90 meters which has been reduced due to erosion. This historical complex used to be the center of government and rule of northern Khorasan, with a high fence and four towers. The governor's mansion was also located on its heights, surrounded by the city wall. In the past, Arg-e Naderi Ancient Hill was the location of the traditional wrestling competition with the wrestlers of Bojnord city in Khorasan. Recently, in December 2010, archaeologists conducted excavations in this historical monument. Until the end of the Qajar period, the city of Shirvan was still surrounded by the towers and walls of Arg-e Naderi Ancient Hill. This area was completely destroyed in the earthquake of 1929 when people were forced to leave and settle in the central parts of the present-day Shirvan city.
