Chaharqapi Fire Temple is one of the fire temples of the Sassanid period located in the border city of Qasr-e Shirin, in Kermanshah province. This fire temple is of the type that has a surrounding corridor and is formed from a square room with dimensions of 25 by 25 meters, which has a domed ceiling with a diameter of 16 meters. This square room has four entrance gates leading to the surrounding arcade of the central space. There are a series of rooms and spaces around this building, some of which have been identified as a result of recent archaeological excavations. This building was constructed using local materials such as stone slabs and plaster, although the dome of the building was made of brick. Sassanid Chaharqapi temples were places of worship for the gods, and the sacred fire in them was always a symbol of light and brightness. Chaharqapi Fire Temple was recognized as a national monument on July 13, 2000, and was registered with the number 2746. In 2006, it was nominated for inclusion in the World Heritage List along with other Sassanid monuments on the Qasr-e Shirin-Kermanshah axis.
