Khanom Mosque and School are among the religious and historical buildings of the city of Zanjan, located in an old neighborhood known as Fakhim al-Dawlah and in the historical texture of the city. The building was constructed by Master Ismail Banna, commissioned by a wealthy woman in the late Qajar period. According to the inscription on the main door of the mosque, the construction date of building dates back to 1322 AH.

Khanom Mosque and School can have a special and unique position among the historical monuments remained in our country. On the one hand, this superiority is in terms of the architectural style and decorative techniques, which represents the Qajar architecture in the best possible way. The presence of short and durable minarets with brick tile decorations, comparable to the minarets of the Sepahsalar School in Tehran, and the highly decorated surfaces of the entrance portal and upper levels of the rooms overlooking the courtyard, with arch-shaped and crescent-shaped motifs decorated with geometric patterns, flowers, and bushes, mostly painted in the common colors of the Qajar period, such as yellow, orange, black, white, and pink are the second reason of this position. All of these architectural styles and decorative motifs are unique characteristics of the Qajar architecture.

One remarkable thing about this mosque and school is that the construction of mosques, schools, and sometimes public buildings by pious and powerful women has a long history in our society. This adds to the value, credibility, and position of this religious building.
