Besh Qardash Promenade (Top Tourism Area)

Besh Qardash tourist resort is five kilometers southwest of Bojnord, along the highway from Bojnord to Esfarayen, in North Khorasan province. Besh Qardash stands on the northern edge of the Aladagh mountains and is an alluvial land. It is connected with Badranlu village from the north, with Jajram from the east, with Esfarayen from the south, and with Baba Aman village and its forest promenade from the west. Besh Qardash means five brothers in Turkish. The history of Besh Qardash dates back to the Parthian dynasty, when Zoroastrian Magis lived there. 

Located four kilometers southwest of Bojnord, Besh Qardash was a famous park in the past and it is currently considered to be a top national tourism area. This area provides a unique resort adjacent to the road from Bojnord to Esfarayen. There is a magnificent tomb building overlooking the area of Besh Qardash; It is the memorial of Sardar Mofakham, the ruler of Bojnord and Ester Abad in the late Qajar period. It is in the list of Iran National Monuments, with No. 4757. 

This beautiful park has become the place of recreation for the city residents, guests and tourists in most of the times, especially on the last days of a week. Besh Qardash promenade has an area of ​​nearly 380 hectares, it includes springs and a tomb of the same name. The mineral and therapeutic springs of Besh Qardash originate from five stone cracks. The water of these five springs then joins together and forms the river Chaharmoghan or Charmoghan. Chahar Moghan irrigates settlements on the way to Bojnord and then it flows into Sumbar river. Beside the five springs and five stone fountains, there are tall sycamores and other structures. 

Naser al-Din Shah ordered the ruler of Bojnord, Saham al-Dawlah Yar Mohammad Khan Shadlo, to rebuild the almost destroyed dome of Besh Qardash shrine, during his trip to Khorasan. This mausoleum with a dome of nearly twelve meters high, is a square structure made of brick and plaster with walls of less than six meters long, and it includes three rooms, each of which leads out from the porch with a marble staircase. In addition, four minarets have been raised in front of the dome, outside the structure. The dome and minarets are tiled.

Besh Qardash promenade has different parts such as gate, paved road, stone staircase, Persian garden, fish ponds with statues and fountains, swimming pool, botanical garden, earth dam, cultural camp, parking lot, gazebo, restaurant, motel and sports ground. Among the vegetation of this promenade, we can find species such as Shiraz cypress, potted cypress, pine, bitter olive, sycamore, ash, acacia, catalpas, wild hawthorn, Judas-tree, maple, mulberry and barberry. There are also some amazing old plane trees in Besh Qardash.
