With breathtaking views of the Persian Gulf, local bazaars, and kind and generous people, Bandar Rig is a small, peaceful and safe city in the south of Iran. Although it is one of the less known cities of Iran and there are not enough facilities to reach there, the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran is planning to build necessary substructures and introduce it as a tourist site.

Bandar Rig is located in Genaveh County, one hundred and fifty-five kilometers north of Bandar Bushehr, fifteen kilometers southeast of Genaveh, and thirty kilometers of Khark Island. This port city has both historical monuments like Khan Tower and Hoseinieh Khan, and islands with features like soft sands, calm waves and beautiful sunsets that create a joyful experience for the travelers and tourists. Mir Mohana is one of these islands. Khor and Rock Pier are some of the attractions of this beautiful port city.

Centuries ago, during the Safavid dynasty, tribes like Hayat Davudi migrated from their lands, Lorestan, to Bandar Rig. They remained influential despite the immigration and became rulers of their new homeland. Khanali Hayat Davudi is one of them. He built a structure two hundred and thirty years ago that is now known as Khan Tower. This two-story building was in face a governmental office. It had a central yard with a water pool in the center, and rooms all around it. Each story has two rooms that are connected by a corridor, and the rooms have balconies that open to the yard. The façade has fourteen beautiful columns that ornate the view of the building from outside. It seems that the rooftop was used as guard posts. The materials used to build the tower is Sarooj, and local materials like sponge rocks that are formed by coral fossils, and seashells. Sandalwoods are used in ceiling and the windows are made of Teak. The decorations used in the building are very eye-pleasing and include Gerehchini, stucco works, wooden frames, mirrors and wooden ornaments in forms of animal tails and head of a goat.

Because of the warm and humid environment of Bandar Rig, it is best to travel there end of winter and early spring. During this time of the year, it has pleasant weather that makes your trip even more joyful.
