Kaboodarahang is located in 52 km northwest of Hamedan province at the height of 1675m above the sea level.

The weather conditions of this city are arid and cold and it is the warmest city in summer and coldest one in winter in comparison to the other cities of the province. Kaboodarahang consists of 3 parts named “Markazi”, ”Shirin Su”, ”Goltape”, 3 cities and 10 rural districts.

This city is the second vast city after Hamedan in Hamedan province. Alisadr cave as the biggest water cave in the world, the significant military centers, the biggest industrial complexes of the province and some big units such as Shahid Mofateh powerplant, Vian steel and etc., being located in the transit road of West Azarbaijan to Tehran (Hamedan-Saveh road and Hamedan-Qazvin road), Markazi and southwestern provinces to the northwest (Hamedan–Bijar and Kaboodarahang-Zanjan roads), agricultural lands, livestock, active mine units and tourism services are the economic basis of this city.

Important natural, historical and cultural attractions and handicrafts such as carpet weaving by differnt kinds of silk and wool are the other significant tourism factors of the city. Most of Kaboodarahang locals speak in Azerbaijani Turki and some of them speak in Farsi and Kurdi.The religion of the people in this area is Shia.
