Damghan with the height of 170 m above sea level is connected to the Kavir desert from south, southern hillside of Alborz from the north, Semnan city from the west and Shahrood from east and enjoys a partly arid and cool climate in winter and moderate climate in summer.

Damghan consists of 2 parts naming “Amirabad”,”Markazi”, four cities and rural districts. According to this area climatic situation, this city enjoys a good agriculture. In addition to crops and vegetables, pistachio is the most important agricultural products of this area that is the most desirable Iranian and universal pistachio.

Damghan’s Tarikhane mosque, Tape Hesar, Pir Alamdar tower, Cheshme Ali and the wall around the city are the signs of civilization and culture of past periods in this area. Damghan industry is limited to Chit Zani (a type of etching) and cotton cloth weaving.

Damghan is highly rich in mine. There are lots of lead, magnetite, gold and coal mine in the mountains near to this city. This city is one of the tourist areas based on its nature, history and remaining monuments. The people of Damghan speak in Farsi but they pronounce the diacritic of words and letters unlike the Persian grammar book. Also, there is a relation between their accents and the accent of people in Khorasan. The religion of Damghan people is Shia.
