Khoushab is located in the northwest of Khorasan Razavi province and in the middle of the Jovein-Joghtai tourism axis and its center is Sultan Abad. In the south of this area there are Soleimanieh Mountains, Siab, Siah, Sefid, Zohl and Sorakhdar Mountains which extends along Joghtai Mount, in the southeast reaches to Kohgavin city and the heights of Imamzadeh Heydar and in the north of the region are Ying Mount, Mashkan and Markoh Mountains in the Yam Valley. Local dialects are 80% Turkish, 15% in Persian, and 5% in Kurdish. Archaeological evidence suggests residence in Khoushab region at least since the second millennium BC. There are also works of the Sassanid era in this historical arena, which dates back to this region. This area was captured by Islamic armies from 29 to 30 AH.
