Known for their unusual architecture, there can be found many villages in Iran that have been built in Pelekani (literally meaning staircase) style. This means that the roofs of a series of the building serve as the courtyards and streets of the buildings above them. One example of these villages is Sar Aqa Sayed that is also considered as one of the historical regions of Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari.

Sar Aqa Sayed has very cold weather. During wintertime, there is so much snow that it is almost impossible to access this village. It can be visited during the six months of spring and summer when the snow and ice gradually melt and the roads and paths become accessible.

This attractive village has a population of three hundred people. The electricity of Sar Aqa Sayed has been provided by the cables and utility poles installed up to the center of the village. Schools and medical centers, however, are some of the facilities that unfortunately are not available there.

As a visitor, if you are interested in nomads and their lifestyle, it is better to travel to Sar Aqa Sayed in Oridbehesh and Khordad (from around April, to June). Despite its cold and freezing weather during winter, the village has very pleasant weather during this time which one can enjoy and benefit from.

In addition to agriculture and animal husbandry, the profession and the source of income of most of the local people of Sar Aqa Sayed is extraction of salt from the mineral water springs located in the nearby. Nomadic and rural hand weaves, as well as dairy products such as yogurt and cheese, are some of the souvenirs that can be found in this village.

Sar Aqa Seyyed is located forty-five kilometers northwest of Kuhrang County. Therefore, to reach there one should travel from the city of Chelgard, the center of Kuhrang County, to the west. After passing the stone village of Sheikh Ali Khan, the meandrous dirt road continues to Chama Ice Cave. After traveling for less than fifty kilometers, the village of Sar Aqa Seyyed appears in front of the traveler.
