The combination of a blue lake with snow-covered view in the back can be one of the most eye-pleasing natural landscapes one can see. It is a view you can see not only in the Alps, but also in Iran, in the heart of Zagros Mountains.

To reach the destination described above you should head to Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and ride through the mountain roads until you reach Yasuj. Your destination would be the city of Sisakht on the foothill of Dena Mountain, and the mentioned lake is Kuh Gol located close to the city. It is one of the most beautiful regions of Kuhgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. During spring it becomes covered with Poppies and other wildflowers. Local and migratory birds add to the beauty of this region during summer. Ducks, mallards, storks, cranes, and herons are among the birds that live around the lake during that time.

The city of Sisakht holds many natural tourist attractions and Kuh Gol Lake is only one of them. Tang-e Namak Lake, Valley of Fritillaries, and the conservation area of Dena are other attractions of this city. The lake is only ten kilometers distant from the Sisakht, and about forty kilometers of Yasuj, the center of the city. On the other hand, it is located southeast of Dena, which has helped it be protected from damages by people. After reaching the farthest point that vehicles can go, you should walk about forty-five minutes to arrive at the lake. During recent years, as the number of tourists who travel there has grown, facilities such as resting areas and bathrooms have been installed.

The best time to visit Gol Kuh Lake begins at the half of spring and lasts until the end of summer. You should travel to this region during March and May to be able to see Fritillaries, a kind of flower with a short life. Since the snow has not melted even by spring, you can also see magnificent views of white mountain peaks. The flowing water of this region is very fresh and rather chilly.
