Shemshak Ski Resort has long been considered as one of the northern recreational resorts of Tehran province and today attracts enthusiastic visitors of winter sports. This international ski resort is located in Shemshak village, Shemiranat county (an area that has been a summer countryside since the Qajar period). Shemshak village is covered with villas and some historical attractions like Qajar baths. Darbandsar is another ski resort close to this attraction.
Shemshak ski resort was opened with the cooperation of the Germans engineers for the first time in 1948, platter lift at altitudes of 3050 to 2550 above sea level. Ten years later, in 1958, it was improved with a 250-meter on 3 pedestals.
Shemshak is the second international track in Iran after Dizin. This promotion grade was given by the World Ski Federation after some improvement of the technical background in 1996.
Shemshak ski resort has 7 different types of Ski lifts in total and has a height of 3,000 meters. Apart from an educational ski resort, 3 ski resorts called Aftab, Mahtab and Shab are also available in Shemshak. The Mahtab resort is the tallest with a height of 1950 meters. In addition to all this, Shemshak ski resort has 3 hotels and 4 restaurants, one of which is located on the top of the mountain. Shemshak Hotel with 3 floors, 32 rooms and 2 suites, Shemshak Ice Hotel with Eskimo theme and Barin Hotel are available to tourists. It is worthy to note that Shemshak ski resort is the first night skiing in the history of Iranian sports, with yellow projectors.
The annual opening of the Shemshak ski resort has long taken place at the end of autumn, an opening that is accompanied by a ritual for winter sports lovers. Shemshak ski resort is located in the northeast part of Tehran and you can reach it by Babaei Highway, Lashgarak Highway, and the road of Oshan Fasham. Due to one-day tours and more, visiting Shemshak ski resort does not require a car also. Do not forget to bring ski equipment such as ski goggles, hats, shoes, and ski poles to enjoy this marvelous winter sports resort. The mountainous nature of this land sometimes leads to the closure of access roads.
