Maranjab CaravanseraiAran o Bidgol
Maranjab Caravanserai was constructed for the recreation of travelers of the Silk Road in the 17th century AD, under the order of Abbas the Great (the King of Safavid Dynasty). Maranjab is one of the desert villages of Aran and Bidgol county located in Isfahan province and is situated 50 km from this city. This caravanserai indicates that the desert used to be more prominent centuries ago. During the Safavid era (1501-1736), the route from Isfahan (Considered the capital of Iran at that time) was highly significant. In fact, the Maranjab route connected Isfahan to Mashhad.
These days, the Maranjab Desert hosts many tourists every year. It has become one of the popular destinations for enthusiasts, thanks to the reconstruction of Maranjab caravanserai. This caravanserai has 29 rooms. Tourists who want to spend the night in the caravanserai can book one of its rooms. The room capacity is 10 and 15 people which each room has a private bathroom and toilet. Another positive feature of this caravanserai is the existence of a traditional restaurant and having fresh water well in the heart of the desert.
In this area, visitors can watch the most attractive desert phenomena, such as flowing sand and dunes, sedimentary rocks, and salt and clay deserts. Hoz-e Soltan Lake (Qom) is near this area. This lake is like a white and endless sea. Salt has been harvested in this lake for many years.
Security, diversity of tourist attractions, diversity of plant and animal species have provided an untamed and suitable space for tourism. This desert is one of the most beautiful desert places in Iran. High dunes and haloxylon forests have created spectacular landscapes. Other attractions near the Maranjab Caravanserai include the Rally Track, Desert Marathon, Ballooning, Cycling, Camel Riding, Dastkan Well, Dunes, and Sargardan Island. Besides, some tourists travel to this area with the intention of sand therapy, psychotherapy, dermatology. Some also visit it for astronomical, geological, zoological, or botanical activities.
According to meteorological information in this region, a person feels cold at night for six months of the year, from October to early spring, and warm from June to August. As a result, the best time to visit this place is from April to May.
