The late Ayatollah Khatami's house dates back to the late Qajar period and is located at Ayatollah Khamenei Street 94, Charkhab neighborhood, the city of Ardakan. This 150-year-old house was the residence of Ayatollah Khatami and his family. This property was registered as one of Iran's national monuments on May 30, 2003, with registration number 9116.
Ayatollah Khatami's house (Rejal and Mafakher Museum) was handed over to the Cultural Heritage in 2003 and opened as a museum in the Charkhab neighborhood, Ardakan, in 2004. The three-door rooms, the pure basin, and the small garden of this historical house attract the attention of any observer. Three small rooms can be seen with wooden double doors in the courtyard on the right side of the house, featuring crescent-shaped transoms and colored glass. Ayatollah Khatami lived in Ardakan until the age of 17, then went to Isfahan for further education, where he educated himself until the age of 55. After returning to Ardakan, Ayatollah Khatami established a seminary, which became known as a courageous leadership in the Islamic Revolution. A man who was the Imam of Ardakan for years finally passed away in 1988 after a period of illness.
This historical house includes a central courtyard, a hall, three-door rooms, an Ivan, a wind catcher, and a basement. In the past, the water of Charkhab Qanat used to pass through the basement of this house. The Ardakan Mafakher Museum is also located in this house, where you can see the belongings and artifacts of Ayatollah Khatami and other dignitaries of Ardakan and Yazd.
